MARQUETTE HEIGHTS ~ Jack L. Vanderheydt, 74, of 226 Algonquin Road, passed away at 3:51 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Born August 1, 1934 in Peoria to Jack Albert and Dorothy Lorraine (Wald) Vanderheydt, he married Deborah Lang on October 29, 1976 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Jackie Lynn (Eric) Reichard of Washington; two sons, Rick (Darlene) Vanderheydt of Morton and Jerry (Kelly) Vanderheydt of Washington; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jerry (Barb) Vanderheydt of Pekin and Bill (Mary) Vanderheydt of Port Charlotte, Florida.
His parents preceded him in death.
Jack was an insurance agent for Western & Southern Life Insurance Company for 33 ½ years, retiring in 1996.
He was a former member of the Paul Towne Memorial AMVETS Post #169 in North Pekin and a current member of AARP. He was a fan of Saint Louis Cardinals baseball, and could fix almost anything. He also loved country music.
First and foremost, Jack will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
A public memorial service for family and friends will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. Steve Weber will officiate. There will be no visitation.
