GREEN VALLEY ~ Shirley Marie Johnson, 71, of 208 Berry Street, Apartment A, passed away at 8 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Pekin Hospital Emergency Room.
Born November 9, 1936 in Peoria to Robert and Elfia (Wiggington) Evans, she married Irvin Lawrence Johnson, Sr. on March 17, 1955 in Bartonville. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Teresa L. Coffey of Spring Lake and Cindy M. Flaugher of Pekin; one son, Irvin L. Johnson, Jr. of Marquette Heights; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Roberta (Myron) Anglin of Forest City and Dorothy Sturgis of Manito.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant daughter (Vickey Johnson), and one sister (Verna Rich).
Shirley was a school bus driver for First Student, Inc. in Manito for over 15 years and later for Hoyle Transportation in Pekin for the past several years, last working Friday.
An avid bowler, she had bowled in numerous leagues over the years in Pekin and Havana. She was inducted into the Havana Bowling Hall of Fame.
Her funeral will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Pastor James Hawkins will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with expenses.
