PEKIN ~ Terry Lee Mylott, 66, of 1011 S. 6th St., passed away at 1:28 a.m., Saturday, Jul. 10, 2010 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City.

Born May 14,  1944 to Ralph and JoAnn (Richardson) Petitt, he married Velma J. Seelye on Apr. 23, 1978 in Green Valley.

Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, David (Marian) Henderson, II of Minden, Nev. and Vernon (Melissa Harrison) Henderson of Pekin; 3 daughters, Shireen (Darren) Carrington, Teresa (Steven Regan) Mylott, and Dawn (John Burgess) Ascencio, all of Pekin; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 7 brothers, James Warren of Colorado., Robert Warren of Indiana, Ralph  Petitt and Dennis  Petitt both of Fla., Ronald (Joy) Petitt of Pekin and Michael Mylott ; 6 sisters, Carol (Bob) Duez of Groveland, Vicki (Tim) Neaville, of Pekin, Kathy (Larry) Hartley of High Point, North Carolina,and Donna (Jon) Davis, Becky Jo Petitt-Steiner, and Sandy (Hank) Bessio, all of  Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister.

Terry last worked in the warehouse at Wal-Mart in Pekin. He had previously worked as a driver for WeCare and had retired from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem, Virginia in 1999, after 15 years of service. 

He had served in the U.S. Air Force.

He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and walking "Miss Lady", his Labrador retriever.  He was also a Chicago Bears football fan.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Pekin, where his funeral will be at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 14, 2010.  Kenneth Seest will officiate.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the funeral at the church.  Private burial will be in Forest City Cemetery. Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is in Charge of arrangements.
