PEKIN ~ Betty Louise McGill, 81, of 2206 Glendale Avenue, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Born May 10, 1929 in rural Easton to Charles W. and Thelma R. (Tisdale) Tangman, she married Charles Lewis "Chuck" McGill on August 29, 1947 in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Dora (Gale) Munter and Sally (Don) Johnson, both of Pekin, and Wendy (Don Boyd) McGill of East Peoria; one step-son, Michael (Sandy Poos) McGill of Spring Hill, Florida; four grandsons, Dr. Robert "Bob" (Stephanie) Johnson, Kris (Shelly) Munter, and Dr. Brendon (Lisa) Johnson, all of Pekin, and Dylan Boyd of East Peoria; and four great-grandsons, Bradley Johnson, Ethan Munter, Aiden Munter, and Derek Rademaker.
Her parents and one brother, Charles W. Tangman, Jr., preceded her in death.
Betty had worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 4 years and later at the Pekin YWCA as a part-time evening receptionist. She also worked at Pekin Hospital as an admitting clerk and last worked at Airwave Vacuum Cleaner for 5 ½ years, retiring in 1980.
She attended First United Methodist Church in Pekin and was a life member of Chautauqua Sportsmans Club. Betty enjoyed cooking, flower gardening and traveling.
Her graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010 at Walker's Grove Cemetery in Easton. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
