MARQUETTE HEIGHTS ~ Walter Delbert Junior Stone, Jr., 68, of 806 LaSalle Blvd., passed away at 1:57 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born February 25, 1942 in Pekin to Walter Delbert, Sr. and Mary L. (Tyler) Stone, he married Diana Kay Yates on December 4, 1965 in Pekin.  She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Wanda Stone of Pekin; two sons, David Stone of Marquette Heights and Steven (Tammy) Stone of Washington; five grandchildren, Jesse, Sarah, Jalee, Jonah, and Jocelyn Stone; and two sisters, Mildred Stone and Sherrille Elliott, both of Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother (Thomas Stone), one infant sister, and one infant brother.

Junior worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1997 as a machinist in East Peoria.  Following retirement, he worked part-time at the Freedom Gas Station in Marquette Heights and later for Vonachen Services, Inc. in Peoria.

His funeral will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  Pastor Dowice Ashley will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fairlawn Cemetery in Decatur.
