Lois M. Sigler

  2/20/1937 - 7/22/2010

PEKIN ~ Lois Margaret Sigler, 73, of 314 Knollcrest, formerly of rural Green Valley, passed away at 3:33 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born February 20, 1937 in Sand Prairie Township to Lewis G. and Martha Sophia (Fuelberth) Schumm, she married James W. Holmes on February 12, 1956 in rural Green Valley.  She later married Darrell L. Sigler on September 4, 1976 in rural Green Valley.  He died August 23, 2007 in Peoria.  She also was preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving are three daughters, Debra L. "Debbie" (Larry) Robinson of Lincoln, Laura A. (Gary) Brees of North Pekin and Teresa D. Graham of Pekin; one son, Steven J. Holmes of Washington; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Jayne, Paul, Christopher, Andrea and Megan; four great-grandchildren, Gaige, Brianna, Jade and Lacey; one sister, Connie (Larry) Ary of Green Valley; one niece, Nicole (Brent) Herron; one nephew, Nathan Ary; one great-niece and two great-nephews.

Lois was a member of St. John's (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir.  She also was a member of the Epiphany Society, charter member and past 1st President of the Rebekah Circle.  She was baptized on April 4, 1937 and confirmed on March 25, 1951. She also was a charter and former member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Delavan

She held clerical positions with many local medical facilities including Hopedale Hospital, Methodist Medical Center, Pekin Memorial Hospital, and Tazwood Center for Human Services.

She enjoyed crafts, gardening, flowers, canning, bird watching, reading, cross stitch and embroidery.  She also was a leader and facilitator for the Mutliple Sclerosis support group in Pekin.


Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 26, 2010 at St. John's (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley.  The Rev. Thomas R. Wenndt will officiate.  Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church.  Burial will be in Sand Prairie Cemetery in rural Green Valley.
