PEKIN ~ Lorraine Mary Trumpy, 96, of Pekin, passed away at 11:39 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin. 

Born November 1, 1913 in Pekin, the fourth child to John and Alice (Genson) Berra, she married Franklin Lyle Trumpy on March 24, 1934 in Peoria.  He preceded her in death on January 5, 2007 in Pekin.   She also was preceded in death by three brothers (John, Raymond, and Louis Berra) and three sisters (Mary VanNattan, Louisa Bonnette, and Alice VanOsdel).

Surviving are one daughter, Janine L. Grzanich of Pekin; one son, Franklin D. (Judith) Trumpy of Ames, Iowa; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Krob of Des Moines, Iowa and Franklin (Beth) Trumpy of Austin, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Julia and Alexander Krob.

Lorraine was a devoted wife of 72 years, a beloved mother and housekeeper.  For many years she was a stay at home mom raising her children.  After her children were grown and gone from the home, she worked in the cafeteria at Pekin Community High School for several years.

She was an avid reader of non-fiction history, a gardener and a great fan of the Chicago Cubs.  Her remarkable ability to recall family details of places, names and events made her the undisputed source for anecdotal family history. 

Lorraines loving family will miss her devoted affection to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her fabulous cooking and her astounding memory of family history.

Her funeral will be at Noon Monday, August 2, 2010 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate.  Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2010 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
