PEKIN ~ Benjamin Thomas Bishop, 31, of 2032 Westgate Drive, Apartment 4 in Pekin, was pronounced dead at 11:35 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2006 at the scene of an accident, ¼ mile east of Weishaupt Road on Illinois Route 9 in Mackinaw Township.
Born June 15, 1975 in Peoria to Levi Clarence and Rebecca Kay (Daly) Bishop, he married Christina S. Reis on March 12, 2005 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Rebecca K. "Becky" Bishop of Pekin; his father and step-mother, Levi "Butch" and Mavis Bishop of Mapleton; one son, Benjamin Thomas Eugene Bishop of Pekin; two daughters, Kentrelia Bishop and Koralin Bishop, both of Pekin; one step-son, Chase Ezekiel Lee Davis of Pekin; six brothers, Levi C. Bishop, Jr. of Mackinaw, Jeremy L. Bishop of Peoria, Zebulon Pike Bishop, James Robert "Jim Bob" Bishop, John W. "John Boy" Bishop and Jason R. Bishop, all of Pekin and three sisters, Jennifer M. Dalton of Washington, Erin M. Bishop and Mary Ellen Bishop, all of Pekin. His grandmother, Mina Mae Daly of Peoria also survives.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth A. Bishop.
Ben was working as a fork lift driver at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for Gray Interplant.
Ben enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the movies and playing basketball.
He was of the Catholic faith.
His graveside funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2006 at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Father Timothy Nolan will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
