Virginia "Vicky" Moldenhauer

PEKIN ~ Virginia Mae "Vicky" Moldenhauer, 82, of 1621 Valle Vista Boulevard, passed away peacefully at 8:55 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2007 at Pekin Hospital.  She had been ill for the past 3 months.

Born July 15, 1924 in Green Valley to John and Ada (Goodin) Harris, she married William E. Moldenhauer of Forest City on May 19, 1946 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Manito.  He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Darla Moldenhauer of Bourbonnais; two sons, Dennis W. Moldenhauer of Easton and Mark Moldenhauer of Topeka; three sisters, Phyllis Webster of Lincoln, Ruth Kurtz and Beverly Powers, both of Delavan and one brother, John (Helen) Harris of New Orleans.

Her brother, Marshall Harris of Green Valley, preceded her in death.

She graduated from Green Valley High School and attended Illinois State Normal University.  She then taught for several years before her marriage.  Together, she and her husband farmed for 41 years in the Forest City, Delavan and Easton areas before retiring to Pekin in 1987.

Vicky was active in the Easton Women's Club and the Mason County Farm Bureau.  She also was active in the Tri-County Twirlers square dance group and the Coachman Camping Club for 27 years.

Earlier in her life she was a renowned softball pitcher.  She served as an IHSA girls' sports official and continued to assist with the IHSA Softball Hitting Derby.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin. 

She enjoyed playing cards and socializing with friends.  Traveling and sports continued to be her passion throughout her life.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin.  The Rev. Dr. Rodger P. Abatie will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, and also one hour before the funeral Friday at the church.  Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
