CREVE COEUR ~ Rita Mae Grove, 76, of 133 Richard Court, passed away at 8:47 p.m. Monday, July 4, 2011 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born March 30, 1935 in Elmira, New York to Albert and Lois (LaMunion) Sharp, she married Harley James Grove on May 31, 1955 in Elmira, New York. He survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Beth (Eddie) Breweur, Amy (Randy, deceased) Trenholm, Meg (Butch, deceased) Payne, and Jo (Vinny) Gaboriault, all of Creve Coeur; three sons, James (Heather) Grove, Harley “Toby” (Cynthia) Grove, II, and David (Kerry) Grove, all of Creve Coeur; twenty-three grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, David (Bonnie) Sharp of Horseheads, New York; and one sister, Judy (Harvey) Foster of Palatine.
Her parents preceded her in death.
A homemaker, Rita had worked at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home in Creve Coeur, Nyman’s Market in Creve Coeur, and last in housekeeping at Holiday Inn in East Peoria.
Rita enjoyed reading and crocheting, but her greatest joy was being with her family.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Paul Grove will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fon du Lac Cemetery in East Peoria.
