EAST PEORIA ~ Richard Lee Cobb, Sr., 79, of East Peoria, passed away at 11:43 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria.
Born March 10, 1932 in Chillicothe, MO to Nathan Carroll and Margaret Alice (Elliot) Cobb, he married Julia Bell "Judy" Reeder on July 31, 1960 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, John (Risilie) Green of Lake Ozark, MO and Jerry (Ann) Green of Waynesville, MO; two daughters, Sharon (Kenneth) Baer of Germantown Hills and Leah (Frank) Culbertson of Browerville, MN; ten grandchildren, Stephanie Miller, Ashley Green, Michael Sickler, Jr., Angela Martin, Andrea Hartley, Ben Green, Heather Green, Sean, Leah, Chad and Kelly Culbertson; ten great-grandchildren and one sister, Tabitha Gilbert of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Richard Lee Cobb, Jr. on July 21, 2005 in Pekin and two sisters.
A United States Air Force veteran, serving as an airman 2nd class from 1953 to 1957, he was a member of Creve Coeur American Legion Post 1234. Richard also was a past member of the Illinois American Machinists & Auto Workers.
Richard worked for the Peoria-Pekin & Union Railroad as an Air Brake Machinist and inspector for 37 years, retiring in 1992. He also worked at Krogers in East Peoria for 38 ½ years.
He was a member of Lord's Table Church of God in Bartonville.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. The Rev. Todd Shaw will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fon du Lac Cemetery in East Peoria, with military rites accorded by the United States Air Force and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
