EAST PEORIA ~ Daniel Joseph Fahnstrom, 54, of East Peoria, passed away at 9:40 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2012 at his residence.
He was born September 4, 1957 in Peoria to Richard Curtis and Wilhelmena Maxine (Tripp) Fahnstrom.
Surviving are his parents, Dick and Willie of Mapleton; two brothers, Darrell C. “Dewey” (Melody) Fahnstrom of Joliet and Dana C. (Christina) Fahnstrom of Canton; one sister, Diane K. Krause of Pekin; four nephews, Brian (Tracy) Fahnstrom, Aaron (Kristie) Krause, Brett Fahnstrom and Scott Fahnstrom; three nieces, Ellen Fahnstrom, Sarah Krause and Haley Fahnstrom and one great-nephew, Brayden.
A graduate of Illini Bluffs High School, Daniel had served four years in the United States Navy during peacetime. He then went on to work for Lockheed Aircraft in Georgia and then for Trism Trucking, also in Georgia.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing and watching: golfing, fishing, cross country skiing, baseball and basketball. He also enjoyed walking and had previously participated in the Atlanta Marathon.
He was a former member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
A private family service will be held at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. There will be no visitation.
