Olive M. Plut

PEKIN ~ Olive Mae Plut, 82 of Pekin, passed away at 2:59 a.m., Thursday, February 23, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born May 5, 1929 in Eureka, IL to Harry W. and Blanche M. (Whitman) Burrell, she married Jacob James “Jim” Plut, Jr. on November 10, 1945 in Delavan.  He preceded her in death on April 24, 2002 in Pekin.

Also preceding her in death are her parents and one brother, James “Bob” Burrell.

Surviving are one daughter, Karen L. (Lyle) Seest of Pekin; two granddaughters, Lila Mae Seest of Cincinnati, OH and Lynn Marie (Leonard) Kasinger of Pekin; three great grandchildren, Autumn Leigh Kasinger, Seth Andrew Kasinger and Liberty Kaylene Kasinger, all of Pekin; one sister, Rosemary (George) Lambert of Pekin and two brothers, Charles (Donna) Burrell of Gibson City and Edward (Cheryl) Burrell of Pekin.

Olive worked in child care from 1981 until 1990.  Prior to that, she worked five years for Duff’s Jewelry in Delavan; three years as a secretary at International Harvester and for a short time at the Stetson China Factory.  She also had worked at the Delavan Bakery for twelve years.

Olive was a member of Pekin Bible Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir.  She was a former member of Delavan Baptist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher and treasurer there.  She was past leader of the Delavan Youth Club for 12 years.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2012 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  The Rev. Richard W. Jones will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan.
