PEKIN ~ Clarence W. Schurman, 79, of Pekin, passed away at 1:10 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Methodist Medical Center of Illinois in Peoria.
Born August 15, 1932 in South Pekin to Clarence and Della Mae (Null) Schurman, he married Betty Marie Taylor on February 16, 1952 in North Pekin.
Surviving are seven sons, Perry (Annie) Schurman of Hopkinsville, KY, Robert (Kathy) Schurman of Marquette Heights, Mark (Margie) Schurman of Springfield, Darryl (Jeannette) Schurman of Las Vegas, Jeff (Diane) Schurman of Delavan, Eric Schurman of South Pekin and Michael (Susie) Schurman of Pekin; one daughter, Shellie (Daniel) Lauss of Manito; thirty-eight grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Wanda) Schurman of Pekin and David (Wilma) Schurman of Eureka and three sisters, Roberta (Howard) Durham of Oklahoma, Jane (Bill) Lasley of South Pekin and Glenna Sapp of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Edward Schurman.
Clarence was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War.
He worked as a security guard, last working for Curtis Detective Agency. He retired in 2000.
He enjoyed fishing, working on cars and watching westerns. HE also loved to play cards, especially Canasta, Euchre and Hand & Foot.
He was of the Christian faith.
His graveside funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2012 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, where military rites will be accorded by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Major Jerry O’Neil will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
