PEKIN ~ Melvin "Mel" Richard Anliker, 65 of Pekin, passed away at 12:10 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Heartland Health Care Center at Riverview in East Peoria.

Born December 21, 1946 in Pekin to Melvin and Norma (Shepherd) Anliker, he married Angela Sleeth on October 28, 1967 in Peoria.  She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Richard L. Anliker of Pekin and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mel worked on the floor crew at Wal Mart since 2000, last working in 2010.  He had retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1996 after 30 years of service.

He enjoyed reading and playing Chess with his grandson.

There will be no services or visitation.  According to his wishes, cremation will be accorded.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
