PEORIA ~  Margaret Lucille Kott, 93, of Peoria, formerly of Downers Grove, died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Lutheran Home in Peoria.

She was born on July 13, 1919 in Chicago to Louis and Barbara (Novak) Jokiel and was the fifth of six children.  She married Adolph Kott on June 21, 1941 in Chicago.  He preceded her in death in April, 1992.

Surviving are her children, Barbara (Joseph) Emanuel of Peoria, Marlene (Dominic) Calgi of Danbury, CT and Gary (partner Jonathan Schreur) of Saugatuck, MI; three grandchildren Karen (Matt) Miller of Marietta, GA, Brian (Alicia) Emanuel of Clive, IA and Roger (Kari) Emanuel of Peoria; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Leona (late Henry) Malek of Lindenhurst.

Although Margaret held a variety of jobs during her lifetime, being a wife and mother brought her the most joy and satisfaction.  She was a gracious hostess and a wonderful cook.  While she was humble about her own accomplishments, she was always proud of the accomplishments of her family members.  Margaret enjoyed playing games like Rummi-Cube, Kings in the Corner and poker.  She enjoyed music from the Big Band era and reminisced about dancing at the Aragon Ballroom.  She was also a life-long, hopeful Chicago Cubs fan.  She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peoria Heights.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, August 17th at Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home, 8025 West Golf Road, Niles, IL.  Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 18th at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 8149 West Golf Road in Niles.  Interment will be at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles.
