HAVANA ~ Donna Shilling, 76, of Havana, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Born July 23, 1937 in Pekin to Elmer and Lillian (Petty) Hibbert, she married Herschel Shilling on October 24, 1954 in Havana. He died in May 2010 in Havana. She also was preceded in death by her parents and her children, Alan Shilling, Doug Shilling and Lori Shilling.
Surviving are her granddaughter, Stephanie Bump of Ashland, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Ericka, Christopher and Riley; her significant other, Scott Foster of Havana; one sister, Kim (Kent) Daniels of Virginia; two brothers, Raymond Bassett and Roger (Annette) Bassett, both of Havana; and one step-brother, Jerry (Phyllis) Bassett of Morton.
Donna was a member of the Church of Christ in Havana.
She had worked as a care taker for the elderly for many years. She also had been an Avon lady for 30 years.
Donna enjoyed working at the drive-in theater in her younger years. She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley. She loved music and playing all kinds of games. She cherished time spent with her family.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family to help with expenses.
