Cherrie M. Mooningham

MORTON ~ Cherrie May Mooningham, 63, of Morton, passed away at 4:56 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born December 29, 1953 in Christopher, IL to John and Joyce (Summers) McKemie, Jr., she married Everett Mooningham on August 20, 1977 in Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Emily Mooningham of Morton; 2 sisters, her twin sister Cheryl (Bill) Russell of East Peoria and Christine (Dave) Bonds of Lee’s Summit, MO and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Cherrie had a passion for working with children. She was an assistant director and teacher at Faith Lutheran Child Care in Washington for 10 years, retiring in 2015. Previously, she worked for Jack and Jill Learning Center in Morton as a director and teacher from 1983 until 1996.
Cherrie enjoyed playing Bunco, crocheting and doing crafts. She also enjoyed trivia and movies.
She was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God in East Peoria, where she was active with Women’s Ministries and Missionettes.
Her funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God in East Peoria. Pastor Fred Doughty will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
