MAPLETON ~ Evalyn Nash, 79, of Mapleton, passed away at 12:24 p.m. Monday, September 4, 2017 at her home after a year-long battle with renal failure.
Born September 14, 1937 in Kingston Mines to Everett and Faye (Bunger) Taylor, she married Norman Delmar Nash on January 18, 1958 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on November 9, 1999 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, James Everett Nash; and her sister, Mary Alice Hunter.
Surviving are two sons, Norman Victor (Kristie) Nash of Enid, Oklahoma and Jeffrey Delmar (Terry) Nash of Midwest City, Oklahoma; two daughters, Renee (Jay) Faletti of Brimfield, and Sarah Nash of North Pekin; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Daniel Taylor of Minco, Oklahoma and Robert Taylor of Wyoming, Illinois.
Evalyn was a member of the Kingston Mines United Methodist Church, where she also was the Sunday school superintendent.
She had worked as an LPN, working private duty for 25 years.
She was a member of the Alumni Association at Illini Bluffs School and a member of the former Mother’s Club at Illini Bluffs.
Evalyn was an avid gardener and loved canning and sewing. Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye and she cherished time spent with them.
Cremation rites will be accorded. The family will host an open house in celebration of Evalyn’s life from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017 at her home in Mapleton. Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is assisting the family with arrangements.
