Obituaries are so much more than a public notice that a friend or loved one has passed away.

PEORIA ~ Nicholas James “Nick” Cochran, 27, of Peoria, passed away at 5:34 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017 at his home.  He was formerly of Pekin.

Also surviving are one son, Jaxon James Cochran of Peoria; his mother and step-father, Lisa and Ticy Bell of Mason City; father and step-mother, Chris and Maria Eva Cochran of Peoria; grandparents, Jim and Pam Cochran of Tremont, Colleen Cochran of Peoria, and Carla and Jim Lowe of Tunas, Missouri; half-sister, Josie Bell of Mason City; two step-sisters, Chelsie Beck of Lincoln and Tanya Covell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four step-brothers, Winston Bell and Blazer Bell, both of Mason City, Kendel (Samantha) Bell of Elkhart, and Michael Cage of Spring Valley; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald Strange and Susan Arter-Cochran.

Nick loved to play the guitar and was a music enthusiast especially of Nirvana.  He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bulls, and Green Bay Packers.  He also followed WWE professional wrestler Jeff Hardy, something that his dad and he shared.  He will be remembered for being self-driven, self-motivated, and extremely funny, but his greatest joy was being a dad to his son, Jaxon.
