PEKIN ~ Marilyn Ruth Mason, 85, of Pekin, passed away at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Pekin Manor.

Born May 18, 1932 in Bloomington to Walter and Judith (Olson) Thees, she married George H. Mason on June 1, 1952 in Denver, CO. He survives.

Also surviving are four children, Diane (Ross) Gould of Pekin, Dr. John Mason of St. Pete Beach, FL, Marianne Sepich of Morton, Judy (Joe) Murphy of Parker, CO; 13 grandchildren, Dr. Nicholas (Carrie) Gould, Jacob Gould, Benjamin (Megan) Gould, Rachel Sepich, Austin Mason, Jennie Mason, Hannah (Austin) Belleau, Aaron Murphy, Katie Murphy, Laura Murphy, Ted Murphy, Beth Murphy and Sue Murphy; two great-grandchildren, Silas and Mason Gould; one sister, Elsie (Bruce) Strasser of Pekin and her faithful companion, Bear.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A homemaker and military wife, Marilyn was a longtime Girl Scout Leader and former member of the Hoe and Hope Garden Club in Pekin. She enjoyed gardening, painting and traveling the world with her husband.

Marilyn was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grand and great-grandmother and sister. She loved time spent with her grandchildren.

She was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin, where she was a former member of the Ladies Guild.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin. The Rev. Daniel Bishop will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kyle’s Care for their loving care, which allowed Marilyn to remain at her home.
