Clydene Claton Gorsage

PEKIN – Clydene Claton Gorsage, age 106, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Elmcroft of Altoona in Duncansville, PA.  She was formerly a longtime Pekin resident.

Born January 21, 1911 in Kilbourne, IL to Cress and Margaret (Schafer) Bell.  She married Wilbur Claton on August 3, 1936.  He died December 23, 1966.  She married Edward Gorsage on July 2, 1971.  He died January 7, 1986.  She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and three brothers, her granddaughter Courtney Claton; stepson James Gorsage and stepdaughter Shirley Perkins.

Surviving are her son Larry and wife Karen, Hilton Head Island, SC; grandson Sean Claton and wife Denise and great-grandsons Liam and Kellen Claton, Rochester, MN; stepdaughter-in-law Jeanne Gorsage, North Richardson, TX; step-granddaughter Marcie (Lloyd) Todd and step-grandsons David (Teresa) Gorsage, Dan (Lisa) Gorsage, Cary Perkins, Tracey (Beverly) Perkins, Matt (Barbara) Perkins and fourteen step-great grand children.  

Clydene attended Brown Business College in Peoria, IL and worked for several years at Ceco, Inc., Bartonville, IL and many years at the Pekin Credit Bureau.  She was a lifelong member of St Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin and the Corona Circle at the church.  She formerly served on the Pekin Y.W.C.A. Board of Directors. 

Clydene was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother who enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She traveled throughout the United States and especially enjoyed spending the winter months in St. Petersburg Beach, FL.  She will be deeply missed by family and friends. 

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, IL.  The Rev. Dr. Brian Byrne will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour before the funeral.  Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens, Pekin, IL.
