Linda Pumphrey

PEKIN ~ Linda Suzanne Pumphrey, 67, of Pekin, passed away at 7 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2017 at her home.

Born September 20 ,1950 in Peoria to Dale Daniel and Beulah Laverne (Ewell) Henard, she married Eddie Eugene ‘Ed” Pumphrey on February 6, 1972 in Pekin. He died December 22, 2005 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, E. Matthew Pumphrey on June 4, 2016 in Morton and her step-mother, Rosemary Henard.

Surviving are one son, Tim (Courtney Bahler) Pumphrey of Bloomington; one daughter, Trisha (Brenda) McBride of North Pekin; three grandchildren, Wren Everleigh Pumphrey of Bloomington, Jessicas delaRosa and Casey March, both of IA ; two brothers, Kenny Dale Henard of Buckeye, Arizona and Mike (Kate) Dickson of Macomb; three sisters, Terry (Rick) Traver of Benson, Arizona, Michelle (Richard) Hancock of The Villages, FL and Marsha (Tim) McDonough of Ocala, FL.

Linda operated a daycare in her home for more than 40 years.

Her passions in life were working with children, camping, and spending time with her family.

Linda was a member of Pekin Bible Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, coordinator for Vacation Bible School and worked as a secretary. With her husband, Ed, they served in the children, youth and adult departments.

Her funeral will at 11 a.m. Friday October 6, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Chad Nightingale will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the service. Private inurnment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Camp of Champions USA, 4100 N. Brandywine Dr. Suite 211A, Peoria, IL 61613.
