Dale L. Goyen

PEKIN ~ Dale L. Goyen, 89, of Pekin, passed away at 8:35 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 at his home.

Born June 17, 1928 in Brereton to Harold and Mary (Williams) Goyen, he married Wilma D. Lindzey on June 25, 1950 in Canton.  She died November 20, 1977 in Havana.  He later married Lois (Heater) Wilcoxen on August 5, 1978 in Havana.  She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Randy (Ann) Goyen of Pekin; one daughter, Kandy (Phil) Wright of Canton; one step-son, Steven (Rachel) Wilcoxen of Jupiter, FL; one step-daughter, Cheri Muller of Washington; one grandson, Nick Wright; four step-grandchildren, Scott (Liz) Wilcoxen, Colin (Adrienne) Wilcoxen, Jessica (Richard) Trujillo and Eric (Crystal) Wilcoxen; three brothers, Harold (Helen) Goyen of Normal, Duane (Sue) Goyen of Springfield and Lester (Sonja) Goyen of Canton and one sister, Rosalie (Joe) Cirilli of Canton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sandy Goyen; one step-son, Jeffrey Wilcoxen; two brothers, Mark Goyen and Bill Goyen and one sister, Eleanor Berry.

Dale was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, attaining the rank of Corporal.

He retired in 1989 from GROWMARK in Kingston Mines as a mechanic after more than 25 years of service.

He was a member of Pekin First Church of the Nazarene and was active in the life of the church.  He served the church as head usher for many years, formerly sang in the choir and also formerly taught Sunday school for the kindergartners for many years.  He was a former Mason, while living in Canton.   He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and bowling.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Pekin First Church of the Nazarene.  The Rev. W. Lloyd Brock will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour before the funeral Saturday at the church.  Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton, with military rites accorded by the United States Army.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
