PEKIN ~ Thomas Scott Scranton, 67, of Pekin, passed away at 1:20 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2017 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.  He went home to be with his Lord and Savior.
 
Born April 24, 1950 in Peoria to Clarence E. and Evelyn (Bedinger) Scranton, he married Patricia Savka on March 15, 1971 in Peoria.  She survives.
 
Also surviving are three daughters, Jennifer Scranton of Morton, Jill (Daniel) Brown and Lindsey Scranton, both of Pekin; six grandchildren, Jakob Francis, Jarrett DuBois, Ashley Cravens, Braden, Bryce and Blake Brown; one great-grandson, Kelan Glynn; one brother, James (Vickie) Fleming of Rockport, Texas; and two sisters, Jayne Scranton of Phoenix, Arizona and Delores (Rocky) Roccaforte of Eugene, Oregon.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents.
 
He was a member of Riverside Community Church in Peoria.
 
Scott had worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years on the assembly line, retiring in 2000.  After retirement, he began driving a bus for the City of Pekin for TCRC and has enjoyed driving that route since June 2001.
 
Scott was a NASCAR and Indy fan and had been a street stock car driver in years past.  He enjoyed vacationing, attending races and spending time with family.  He was also an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan.
 
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Riverside Community Church in Peoria.  Rev. John King will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  Additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.  His graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, where military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps and the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
