Gustave "Gus" DuPage, Jr.

PEKIN ~ Gustave “Gus” DuPage, Jr., 89, of Pekin, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Timbercreek Rehab and Health Care Center in Pekin.
Born January 8, 1928 in Tovey to Gustave, Sr. and Irene (Baillieu) DuPage, he married Verna Fels.
Surviving are his three children, Brad (Nery) DuPage, Michelle Tilstra, and Troy DuPage, all of Pekin; six grandchildren, Brooke (Luke) Bolen, Amy (Bradley) Barberis, Joshua Tilstra, Brandon (Emily) DuPage, and Hope Tilstra, all of Pekin, and Chad DuPage of Norwood; and four great-grandchildren, Brady, Andrew, Natalie, and Knox.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kent DuPage; two brothers; and two sisters.
A United States Navy veteran of World War II, he served from April 11, 1946 to February 18, 1948.
Gus was a longtime barber and had operated Gustave’s Barber Shop in the Arcade Building in downtown Pekin for many years.
He was a former member of First Baptist Church in Pekin, where he was a member of the choir.
Gus loved singing and enjoyed watching Western movies, golfing, and ballroom dancing. He had sung in Barbershop Quartets and was Golden Gloves Boxer.
His graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, where military rites will be accorded by the United States Navy and the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
