Wilma Vogel

MANITO ~ Wilma Vogel, 87, of Manito, passed away at 3:05 p.m. Monday, November 6, 2017 at UnityPoint Health – Pekin.

Born December 24, 1929 in Pekin to H. Lee and Oreata (Maus) Davis, she married Ernest A. Vogel on November 7, 1948 in Pekin.  He died July 6, 1994 in Manito.  She also was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Joshua Bernshausen and one sister, Norma Von Boeckman.

Surviving are four daughters, Susan (Terry) Stombaugh of Bloomington, Judith Vogel, Jean (David) Bernshausen and Linda (Dan) Sleaford, all of Manito; four grandsons, Ryan (Kendra) Calvert of Manito, Matt (Erin) Stombaugh, Scott Stombaugh, both of Bloomington and Mark (Cassidy) Stombaugh of Osage Beach, Missouri; one granddaughter, Andrea (Kevin) McCann of Morton and ten great-grandchildren, Chelsie Calvert, Kaydence Wolfe, Johnny McFarland, all of Manito, Brayden and Kennady Stombaugh, Wesley and Ivy Stombaugh, all of Bloomington, Nathaniel, Hudson and Lydia Stombaugh, all of Osage Beach, Missouri.  She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.

A homemaker, Mrs. Vogel was a longtime day care provider from her home.

She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manito, where she was a co-organist for several years.  She enjoyed music, reading and playing cards.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manito.  The Rev. Matthew C. Berndt will officiate.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the church.  Burial will be in Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito.  Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 110 South Park Avenue, Manito, IL 61546-9284.
