MAPLETON ~ Robert Everett “Bob” Reber, 86, of Mapleton, passed away at 12:59 p.m. Friday, November 24, 2017 at UnityPoint Health – Methodist in Peoria.
Born November 29, 1930 in Taylorville to Everett and Gladys Reber, he married Rose Marie Hathaway on February 1, 1950 in Hillsboro. She died July 7, 2009 in Mapleton. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dorothy Repscher and Mary Beck; and one step-grandson.
Surviving are one son, Frederick (Krista) Reber of Mapleton; four daughters, Barbara (Duane) Wissel of Glasford, Laura (Gary) Rhoades and Debora (Richard) Cox, both of Pekin, and Penny (Daniel) Rickard of North Pekin; twelve grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, James (Lois) Reber of Kentucky and Thomas (Rita) Reber of Palm Harbor, Florida.
Bob worked in construction for many years, working for D. J. Mahoney in Pekin and last for Otto-Baum Company in Morton, retiring as a bridge superintendent in 1994. He also farmed in the Mapleton area for many years.
He was a member of Carpenters Local 183 and later Local 237 in East Peoria. He had attended Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin.
Bob enjoyed gardening, fishing, and woodworking.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Richard Shaw will officiate. Burial will be at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton.
