Byron J. Oesch

PEKIN ~ Byron “Bud” J. Oesch, 88, of Pekin, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Unity Point Health-Methodist in Peoria.

Born October 13, 1929, in East Peoria, “Bud” married Mary Ann Venovich on December 23, 1949.  She passed away on October 30, 2015. 

Also preceding him in death are his parents, Byron G. and Geraldine Oesch, one son, Dan Oesch, and two brothers, Vern and Dick Oesch.

Surviving are two sons, Stephen Oesch of  Bartonville and Jeffrey (Marj) Oesch of Pekin; two grandchildren, Marissa Oesch and Myles Oesch, and one sister, Marlene (Roger) Stapf of Florida.

Byron proudly served in the United States Navy and later in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

An Illinois State Trooper for 27 years, Byron last served as District 8 Equipment Officer, retiring on December 31, 1984.

Byron was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. 

He was a member of the Hilton Masonic Lodge in East Peoria, the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria, the Mohammed Shrine in Bartonville and a life member of the Creve Coeur VFW Post #4835.

Cremation will be accorded.  There will be no visitation or service.  Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is assisting the family with arrangements.  A Celebration of Life and burial with military rites will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hilton Masonic Lodge, 230 Pekin Avenue, East Peoria, IL 61611.
