PEKIN ~ William Spencer “Bill” Gardiner, 75, of Morton, passed away at 9:03 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Kindred Hospital in Peoria. He was formerly of Pekin.
Born February 3, 1942 in Pekin to James E. and Ethelyn O. (Shaw) Gardiner, he married Gayle Sue Harding.
Surviving are his four children, William Brantley Gardiner of Bolingbrook, Laura Lamb of Sellersburg, Indiana, Damon (Theresa) Gardiner and Chana Thousand, both of Pekin; six grandchildren, Zackery Gardiner of Tipton, Indiana, Devin Thousand of Pekin, Caleb Lamb of Sellersburg, Indiana, Victoria Gardiner and Jaden Thousand, both of Pekin, and Joshua Lamb of Sellersburg, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George Gardiner and James Gardiner; and three sisters, Donna Hoehn, Doris DeVault, and Carol Cook.
Bill had worked for PMI in Peoria in maintenance for several years. Previously, he was a long-time printer in the Pekin and Peoria area.
Bill enjoyed crafts, woodworking, and collecting Indian memorabilia. He was a Bradley Braves basketball fan. He was a CB radio enthusiast with the handle “Bad Eyed Bill”.
A gathering celebrating Bill’s life will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Marlowe’s Hometown Diner, 17B North 4th Street in Pekin. Cremation will be accorded.
