Betty "Honey" Calhoun

PEKIN ~ Betty L. “Honey” Calhoun, 91, of Pekin, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2017 at her home.
Born June 9, 1926 in Taylorville to Virgil and Lelia (McClughan) Martin, she married Ott Harold Calhoun on July 1, 1950 in Lewistown. He died March 19, 1980 in Mapleton. She was also preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings.
Surviving are one son, Phillip A. (Vicky) Calhoun of Mapleton; one granddaughter, Tia Calhoun of Des Moines, IA and three siblings, Nancy Bitner of Buzzville, Alice Martin and J.B. Martin, both of Havana.
Betty had worked in housekeeping at Bradley University for 14 years and earlier in her career she was a cook at Butler’s Supper Club in Mapleton for 20 years.
An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, Betty enjoyed fishing, gardening and quilting.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton.
