PEKIN ~ Dennis Jon Boldt, 68, of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away at 8:12 p.m. Sunday, December 31, 2017 at his home.
He was born January 10, 1949 in Pekin to Charles August and Myrtle Marie (Detterur) Boldt.
Surviving are one son, Todd Shay Boldt of Pekin; one daughter, Sarah Jeanne (Keith) Gabrielse of Cottage Grove, WI; six grandchildren, Christopher Boldt of Rhinelander, WI, Candice Boldt of Pekin and Destiny, Ashley, Hailey and Zachary Gabrielse, all of Cottage Grove, WI; great-grandchildren; five foster grandchildren; one brother, Jack Sharp of Mapleton; sister-in-law, Doris Boldt of Pekin and he also leaves behind many nephews and nieces, including Jody (Bob) Burdick of Kenosha, WI, with whom he was especially close.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Richard, Jerry and Donald Boldt; one sister, Charlene King; brother-in-law, Jack King and sister-in-law, Gin Sharp.
Dennis was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Army. He was also a life member of the VFW Post 7400 in Cottonwood.
He retired in 2003 from the United States Post Office after 25 years of service in Rhinelander, WI. He had also worked at Pabst Blue Ribbon in Peoria Heights for 15 years, until it’s closing in 1982.
Dennis was a gold prospector for 11 years and a musician all his life.
His graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. The Rev. Dr. Joel Catlin will officiate.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
