Betty Nash

PEKIN ~ Betty Lou Loretta Nash, 86, of West Peoria, passed away at 9:58 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.  She was formerly of Pekin and Danville.

Born September 8, 1931 in Danville to Charles Kenneth and Thelma Evelyn (Cooper) Keele, she married Paul Kenneth Nash on March 2, 1951 in Danville.  He died July 28, 2004.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Kenton Keele; one sister, Patricia Gill; and two nieces.

Surviving are one daughter, Cindy (Jim) Nelson of Pekin; five sons, Michael (Marla) Nash of The Villages, Florida, Randy (Wendy) Nash of Germantown Hills, Gary (Denise) Nash of Pekin, David (Cynthia) Nash of Tremont, and Christopher (Tricia) Nash of Pekin; twenty grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn (Alex) Cooke of Athens, Alabama and Shirley Martin of Georgetown; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty had first worked as a telephone operator.  She later worked at the Beef-a-Roo Restaurant, Murphy Mart, and Karmel Korn Store at the Pekin Mall.  She last worked at the Butternut Bread Store on Derby Street in Pekin.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin, and the United Methodist Women, Naomi-Rachel Circle, and was a former member of the Sanctuary Choir.

Betty and Paul enjoyed making and selling their crafts at area festivals.  She was active with Scouting with her children.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Pekin.  The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate.  Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin and also from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church.  Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
