PEKIN ~ Charles Dean Cody, 45, of Pekin, passed away at 7:01 p.m. Monday, January 1, 2018 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

He was born January 18, 1972 in Peoria to Carles D. and Diane S (Adkins) Cody.

Surviving are his mother, Diane Herod of Pekin; his father, Carles Cody of La Porte, Indiana; his stepfather, David Herod of Pekin; two daughters, Kayla Cody and Kelsey Benja, both of Pekin; one granddaughter, Rhilynn; three sisters, Dawna Cody of Peoria, Amber Cody and Candy Cody, both of La Porte, Indiana; two brothers, David “D.J.” Herod of Pekin and Joel Musser of Galesburg and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Bernice Adkins and one brother, Willie Cody.

Cody was an elite welder working out of Boilermakers Union Local 60 in Peoria for more than 20 years.

He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed boating, fishing and camping.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin and a former member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Peoria.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles at 1704 South East Lane in Peoria.  Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
