MARQUETTE HEIGHTS ~ Norma Lee Turner, 90, a lifelong resident of Marquette Heights, passed away at 7:25 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin.
Born May 19, 1927 in Vandalia to James and Ruby (Pryor) Smith, she married Lloyd Turner in 1947 in Mayfield, Kentucky. He passed away on April 14, 2012. She also was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Thibault.
Surviving are one daughter, Carol (Denny) Jones of Pekin; two sons, Randy (Michelle) Turner of Pekin and Michael Turner of Spring Lake; and four grandchildren.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Marquette Heights.
Norma was a generous and selfless person who always put others first, especially her family. Anyone who knew or met her loved her. She will truly be missed by all who made her acquaintance.
A homemaker, Norma enjoyed reading, writing poetry, birdwatching and her dogs. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bulls fan.
Her graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Chaplain Carolyn Roper will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
The family wishes to thank Hospice Compassus for their care and concern for Norma during her illness. Also, thanks to the wonderfull staff at Hallmark Nursing Center.
