Frank Ruestman

PEKIN ~ Franklin “Frank” Duane Ruestman, 83, of Pekin, passed away at 4:50 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at UnityPoint Health – Pekin.

Born January 4, 1935 in Peoria to Rudolph and Margaret (Flohr) Ruestman, he married Arlene Burroughs on November 11, 1955 in El Paso. She died February 8, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Darrell Ruestman and one sister, Darlene Brown Ruestman.

Surviving are one son, Troy Ruestman of Pekin; two brothers, LaVerne Ruestman and Rodney (JoAnn) Ruestman, both of Minonk; he also leaves his significant other of 20 years, Shirley Fryman and her grandchildren.

Frank was a member of Pekin Moose Family Center #916, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1869 and a 58-year member of the Empire Lodge #126 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in Pekin.

He had worked for Rock Island Rail Road for 23 years until it’s closing. He then went to work at Commonwealth Edison Powerton Station in the maintenance department for 20 years, retiring in 1999.

An avid bowler and golfer, Frank was known for his sense of humor, that was impossible not to like. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and was at peace after they finally won the World Series.

His visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, with Masonic rites conducted at 4:30 p.m. Cremation will be accorded following.
