PEKIN ~ Conor Dean Sommer, 7, of Pekin, passed away at 8:37 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2018 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born August 24, 2010 in Peoria to Kelsie Short and Jesse Sommer.
Conor is survived by his mother, Kelsie (Krieg Burrell) Short of Pekin; his father, Jesse (Jenna Pence) Sommer of Washington; two sisters, Alice Sommer and Effie Burrell, both of Pekin; maternal grandparents, Jodi Short of Texas and Vern and Sarah Short of Peoria; paternal grandmother, Shelly Stewart of Trivoli; paternal great-grandmother, Eldonna Sommer of Machesney Park and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Tony Sommer; maternal great-grandparents and paternal great-grandfather.
A prankster to the full extent, Conor loved dinosaurs and super heroes, especially Batman. When he grew up, Conor wanted to be a Super Hero Paleontologist. He was a dog person (not cats), who loved to dance for his dad.
Conor was a happy, easy, go lucky boy with a sweet and pure heart, whose mind was always working. He’ll be remembered as a true fighter, who never complained and always gave a “thumbs up” no matter the circumstances.
He attended Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in East Peoria.
A gathering celebrating Conor’s life will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in East Peoria. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
Memorial may be given to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate, 530 N.E. Glen Oak Ave., Peoria, IL 61637.
