R. Wayne Alexander

PEORIA ~ Ralph Wayne Alexander, 80, of Peoria, passed away at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at his home.
Born January 14, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Ralph and Grace (Gomes) Alexander, he married Jacqueline Eskridge on September 26, 1959 in Peoria.  She passed away August 23, 2009 in Peoria.  He also was preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter, Teresa Reese.
Surviving are one daughter, Beverly Alexander of Peoria; three honorary daughters, Sherry Maxwell of Springfield, Joeleene Broyles of Bartonville and Susan Dulla of Peoria; two grandchildren, Niki Cook of Peoria and Cora (Cory Packingham) Alexander of Peoria; four honorary granddaughters, Kylara Brandt of Rock Island, Abigail Maxwell of Hudson, Beth Broyles of Peoria and Bailey Hardmeier of Peoria; two great-grandsons, Malachi Hall of Peoria and Chase Cook of Peoria; and one brother, Michael Alexander of Indiana.
Wayne had worked as a lithographer for Fleming & Potter in Peoria for over 15 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Peoria and the Eagles Lodge in Peoria.
Wayne enjoyed picking on his grandchildren, though he loved them dearly.  An outdoorsman, he liked going fishing and talking about hunting.  He was a huge movie buff and was especially fond of movies with Doris Day and John Wayne.
Cremation rites will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  His graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.  Military honors will be provided the United States Marine Corps and the Peoria American Legion Post #2.
