GLASFORD ~ Chris Michael “Mike” Weimer, 66, of Glasford, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at UnityPoint Health – Methodist in Peoria.

Born October 20, 1951 in Peoria to Chris and Betty (Werner) Weimer, he married Karen L. Richards on May 17, 2003 in Groveland.  She survives.

Also surviving are three step-children, Troy (Jennifer) Lawson of Pekin, Waylon (Emily Dixon) Logsdon of North Richland, Texas and Christina (Mike) Bartlett of Peoria, all of whom he thought of as his own.  He also leaves five grandchildren, Jessica Lamb of Peoria, Cassie (Ben Johnson) Scurry of Pekin, Colton Dahlem of Florida, Chloe Lawson of Pekin and Asher Logsdon of Texas; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Vickie Gilbert and Cynthia “Sue” Whitfield.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Mike last worked at Penske Trucking of East Peoria in April of 2017.  He previously worked at Eagle Trucking of Peoria, Enercon of East Peoria and Lynch Aluminum of Peoria.

He was an avid fisherman belonging to Bruno’s Lake in Canton.  He was a member of Schiller Lodge #335, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons in Peoria Heights.  He was a former member of the Eagles Lodge in Peoria and the American Legion.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Cremation will be accorded with inurnment in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria at a later date.

The family will also host a celebration of life open house at their home in Glasford on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 1 to 5 p.m.
