Jennie L. Matheney

PEKIN ~ Jennie L. Matheney, 87, of Pekin, passed away at 9:38 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2018 at UnityPoint Heath – Pekin Emergency Room.
Born September 8, 1930 in Cabot, Vermont to Stuart and Edna Carroll, she married Thomas L. “Thom” Matheney on November 28, 1953 in Granby, Connecticut. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Tom (Jackie) Matheney of Pekin and Steve (Alisa) Matheney of East Peoria; one daughter, Debbie (Tracy) Parkin of Pekin; seven grandchildren, Brandon (Wilma) Matheney of Pekin, Amber (Tim) Allen of Manito, Matt (Sally) Matheney of Morton, Jennie (Rich) Vanantwerp, Todd Parkin, Lindsey (Jesse) Prince and Sydney Matheney, all of Pekin; eleven great-grandchildren, Tanner, Connor, Timber, Clayton, Grady, Fox, Nolan, Ellis, Thea, Hyatt and Emlinn and one brother, Jim (Marge) Carroll of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and one sister.
Jennie worked in the family business, Abel Vault & Monument Company in Pekin and Canton, for many years.
She was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin and a member of the United Methodist Women. She also was a former member of Pekin Hospital League.
She formerly enjoyed fishing, bowling and golfing.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Grace United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Joel P. Catlin will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church for the Sharing God’s Grace Building Fund, 601 North 4th Street, Pekin, IL 61554.
