William R. Spoonamore

EAST PEORIA ~ William Robert “Bill” Spoonamore, 87, of East Peoria, formerly of Tremont passed away at 1:18 a.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018 at his home.
Born June 8, 1930 in Quincy to George Cross and Wilma Spoonamore. He was then raised by Wilma and his step father, Harold Thomas. He married Laura Johnson December 27, 1951 in East Peoria. She died April 17, 2008 in Peoria. Also preceding him in death are his parents; 2 daughters, Diane Wiseman and Wanda Yearian and one grandson, Robert Yearian.
He is survived by his two grandsons, Michael Wiseman of Largo, Florida and Mark Wiseman of Pekin and six great-grandchildren.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.
Bill retired from the purchasing department in Caterpillar, Inc. in 1985 after 35 years.
He was a member of the East Peoria congregation of Jehovah Witnesses, where he enjoyed the ministry and telephone witnessing.
Bill enjoyed gardening and spending time with his friends.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Elder Jim Price will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memory Gardens in Pekin.
