Richard D. Loy

PEKIN ~ Richard Dean “Dick” Loy, 81, of Pekin, passed away at 7:09 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at his home.

Born January 9, 1937 in Pekin to Roy Russell and Thelma Marie (Athey) Loy, he married Judith Ann Weakley on July 4, 1964 in Pekin.  She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Christopher Loy of Dawsonville, Georgia and Erik (Cathy) Loy of Streator; one daughter, Elizabeth (Kevin) Kee of Madison, Alabama; and three grandchildren, Amber Loy of Streator, Lucas Kee and Lydia Kee, both of Madison, Alabama.

His parents preceded him in death.

Dick was employed by Caterpillar, Inc. for 43 years, retiring in August of 1999 as a senior tooling specialist at the Mossville Engine Plant.  He had successfully completed Caterpillar’s apprenticeship 4-year course.  He had worked as a tool designer and tool design checker.

He formerly attended Lighthouse Church of God of Pekin.

Dick was an only child who served in the United States Army for 2 years.  He was a faithful and loyal husband, dad, and grandpa.  He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and target shooting.  Dick excelled in repairing household items.

His funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  Pastor Dwight Winnett will officiate.  Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the funeral home.  Private burial will be at Sand Prairie Cemetery in rural Green Valley.
