Mack Farley

PEKIN ~ Mack Farley, 58, of Pekin, passed away at 5:03 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at UnityPoint Health – Methodist in Peoria.

Born May 14, 1959 in Chicago to Dewey and Tempie (Farley) Irvin, Mack was adopted and raised by his grandparents, Napoleon and Sallie Farley.  He married Marcene P. Holverson on June 20, 1992 in Pekin.  She survives.  He is greatly missed by his beloved cat Smudgie

Also surviving are three half-brothers, Willard Ray Smith, Donald (Pat) Smith and James Smith; one half-sister, Sallie Taylor, all of Kentucky and his father, Dewey, of Las Vegas.  He also leaves his mother-in-law, Mina Mae Holverson of Pekin; a brother-in-law, Michael (Joyce) Holverson of Chicago and a sister-in-law, Michele (Tim) Sullivan of Huntsville, Alabama.

Mack attended Evarts High School in Evarts, Kentucky and had worked over the years at Circuit City, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Rally’s, Zips and Cargill.  He also had worked at the National Federation of the Blind of Kentucky, where he first met Marcene and last worked for Mail Tech in Peoria on September 11, 2001.

Mack enjoyed listening to many types of music, including Classic Country, Folk, Gospel, Rock and Rhythm and Blues.  He was a huge fan of Elvis and enjoyed travelling, especially to Memphis.  He also was a trivia buff and enjoyed southern style cooking.  Bryant’s Breakfast in Memphis was his favorite breakfast spot.

He was of the Christian faith.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  Tim Sullivan and Linda Albert will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
