Evelyn M. Mowry

GROVELAND ~ Evelyn Margaret Mowry, 94, of Groveland, passed away at 9:27 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Washington Christian Village.
Born January 2, 1924 in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania to James Russell and Lavina Taylor (Brumbaugh) Montgomery, she married Walter Lee Mowry on August 25, 1946 in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania. He died December 5, 2005 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Doris Lowe.
Surviving are one daughter, Jo Ann (Ed) Kreider of Germantown Hills; two sons, James E. (Ruth Ann) Mowry and Stanley A. (Rosemary) Mowry, both of Olathe, Kansas; six grandchildren, Ben (Emily) Kreider of Muncie, Indiana, Devin Kreider of Los Angeles, California, Brian (Jessica) Mowry, Brett (Ashley) Mowry, Nicole Mowry and Matthew Mowry, all of Olathe, Kansas and six great-grandchildren, Hannah, Oscar, Willa, James, Charlotte and Eli.
Before her marriage, Evelyn worked for the Williamsburg Paper Mill. She later drove a school bus for 15 years with the Groveland and Morton School Districts.
Evelyn was always a fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. She enjoyed reading, gardening, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed bowling and travel. She and her husband travelled to every state in the United States and also to Canada, Mexico and Israel.
She was a member of the former Parkway Christian Church in Pekin.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Dana McNeil of the Peoria Church of the Brethren will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
