Benjamin D. Taylor

PEORIA ~ Benjamin D. Taylor, 64, of Peoria, passed away at 10:46 a.m. on April 11, 2018 at his home.

Born January 8, 1954 in Bloomington to Benjamin D. and Tenner E. (Calloway) Taylor, Sr., he married Phyllis Y. Hunter in 1976 in Peoria.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Surviving are one daughter, Andrea M. Taylor of Montgomery, Alabama; one grandson, Andrell M. Taylor; one sister, Victoria D. Taylor of Dwight; one brother, Gerard D. Taylor of Peoria; one niece, Tenner Calloway and her children:  Winnifred and Michelle Xavier, Kenneth Michael and Anthony Taylor.

He was a member of the Ward Chapel A.M.E. in Peoria.

He had served in the United States Army from 1972 to 1975.

Benjamin was a CDL driver for over 30 years, last driving for Swift and retiring in 2013.

He was brilliant minded, he loved to paint and was a music connoisseur.  He enjoyed science and made people laugh wherever he went.  He also had  a huge stamp collection.

Cremation rites will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Military honors will be provided at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.

Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
