PEKIN ~ Edna Fern Butler, 78, of Pekin, passed away at 3:14 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria.

Born October 6, 1939 in St. Elmo to Leroy William and Evelyn (Guthrie) McClary, she married Reese Butler on July 16, 1972 in North Pekin.  He died June 22, 2004.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Robert “Dutch” Arnold; and three brothers, Roger McClary, Harvey McClary, and Frank McClary.

Surviving are one son, F. Lee (Angie) Switzer of Pekin; four daughters, Melody Bartels of Peoria, Tammy (Terry) Hodge of East Peoria, and Darla Frazell and Amy Foster, both of Pekin; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas (Beverly) McClary of Pekin; one sister, Ruth (Don) Durbin of Pekin; two step-sisters, Angie Price of North Pekin and Joan (Paul) Browning of Pekin; and two step-brothers, Adolph (Debbie) Arnold of East Peoria and John (Debbie) Arnold of Pekin.

A homemaker, Edna enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was a member of North Pekin Church of the Nazarene and had a strong belief in God.

Her funeral will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Private burial will be at Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito.
