GREEN VALLEY ~ Elmer Curtis “Curt” Franks, 64, of Green Valley, passed away at 9:55 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2018 at his home.

He was born June 15, 1953 in Peoria to Elmer Albert and Josephine (Curtis) Franks. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sandra Franks and Judith Richard.

Surviving are one son, Robert Brian (Amanda) Franks of Lacon; two grandsons, Mikel McQuilken and Owen Mitchel Franks; one granddaughter, Emma Leann Franks all of Lacon, one sister, Patricia Franks of Florida, two nieces Misty Kennedy Guido of New Jersey and Christy Kennedy Perez Florida; four great nieces and one great nephew.  Both he and his niece Misty were born on his father’s birthday.

Curt was a former member of Pekin Moose Family Center #916, the Republican National Party, National Executive Counsel and the Mohammed Shriners in Bartonville. He was also a former citizen of the year in Pekin.

He was a graduate of Illinois State University, where he was a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity.

Curt had sold insurance for various agencies in the area for many years. He also served as a Probation Officer in Tazewell County for 25 years.

An outdoorsman, Curt enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and raising hell.

His funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes in Pekin. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the service.
