PEKIN ~ Carole Anise Rodgers, 86, of Pekin, passed away at 9:52 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.

Born August 12, 1931 in Pekin to Lawrence G. and Azeline (Davis) Bishop, she married Grove Lee Rodgers on September 18, 1955 in Pekin. He died on June 18, 1989 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, William Eugene; brother, James Bishop and two sisters, Arlynn Hills and Mildred Montgomery.

Surviving are two daughters, Amy Lynne Rodgers of Pekin and Abbie Lee Rodgers of Beaver Dam, WI; one son, James Louis (Heather Otis) Rodgers; three grandchildren, James Louis Rodgers, III., Jade Nicole Hull and Michael Lee Lowe; seven great-grandchildren, Layla, Logan, Lore and Luci Hull, James, III. “Trey” and Lexi Rodgers and Annabelle Wright and one brother, Lawrence (Phyliss) Bishop of Pekin.

Carole had worked as a transcriptionist at pekin Hospital for 12 years, retiring in 1999. She later worked transcribing from home ending here career in 2008.

She found great joy surrounding herself with her family and church family.

Carole was a former member of Jobs Daughters Bethel #55 in Pekin. She was a 74-year member of First Christian Church in Pekin, where she served as the chair on the board, superintendent of Sunday school, Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir and numerous committees.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018 at First Christian Church in Pekin. Pastor Hank Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Private burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to her church located at 1201 Chestnut St., Pekin, IL 61554 or Apostolic Christian Restmor, 1500 Parkside Ave, Morton, IL 61550.
