James J.D. Privett

PEKIN ~ James D. “J.D.” Privett, 89, of Pekin, passed away at 5:58 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2018 at Pekin Manor.

Born January 18, 1929 in Crockett County, Tennessee to J.H. and Rosa (Privitt) Privett, he married Bessie Artice Diggs on April 19, 1953 in Pinson, Tennessee. She died September 22, 2006 in Morton. He later married Lorelei Christopher on August 15, 2009 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Paula A. (Russ) Hinderliter of Glasford; one son, Joseph D. (Jodie) Privett of Pekin; four grandchildren, Brent R. (Haley) Hinderliter of Glasford, Alexandra D. Privett, J. Cameron Privett and Evan D. Privett, all of Pekin and three brothers, Earl Privitt and Kuron Privett, both of Humboldt, Tennessee and Lloyd Privitt of Decaturville, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters.

J.D. established Privett Construction in Pekin in 1958 and later J.D.and Artice founded and owned San Juan Pools & Spas in Pekin in 1977. 

A family man that was willing to help anyone, J.D. loved to garden, work in his yard, rehab houses and tinker with old farm tractors.    

He was a 63-year member of Faith Baptist Church in Pekin, where his funeral will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018. Pastor Timothy Collard and Kenneth Seest will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 5:45 p.m. at the church. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Bear Creek Cemetery in Pinson, Tennessee.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Faith Baptist Church, 1501 Howard Ct., Pekin, IL 61554.
