GLASFORD ~ Cheryl Ann Monks, 72, of Glasford, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2018 at her home.

She was born October 30, 1945 in Peoria to George Fredrick and Mary Evelyn (McCullough) Monks.  Her parents preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marlene Fahnders and Kathlyn Weis; three brothers, John “Jack” Monks, Harold Monks, and Kenneth Monks; one niece, Cherie Colston; and her long-time companion, Marvin Strube.

Surviving are one sister, Joanne Gibson of Glasford; many nieces and nephews; and her caregiver and niece, Amanda (Josh) Alexander of Glasford.

She was a graduate of Timber Township High School and Bradley University.

Cheryl was employed by Illini Bluffs School District #327 in Glasford for 29 ½ years as a 6th grade teacher at the middle school, retiring in 2000.  She had impacted so many students over her teaching career.  She later owned and operated C & M Market in Glasford for 15 years.  Her grocery store provided convenient food and necessities for the Glasford community and was a silent supporter of many local causes.

Cheryl enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, and spending time with family and friends  

Her graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton. 

Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
